This was found years ago by either my grandmother, or her mother, somewhere near the Illinois River in Cass County. They would hunt the shoreline or fields for artifacts while their husbands went fishing. It was left to me and I would like to know more about it...approx time period, type of stone used, etc.
need at least one more photo with something in it for size, American coin are ruler is fine. looks like it might be a knife if big enought. nice artifact eather way. Terry
I love some of the stuff they used. And this one has the extra beauty about it. The different colors are aligned just right. Bet he hated to loose that one!!! (or she, as the case probably was!)
but, I know nothing about points in that part of the country. Will have to go there for a hunt one day!!!!!!!!

yes, the varying colors are what makes this one so neat.
540!! thank you, i had to go down to 28% of photo size on my PC to get leanth to match. had to measure coin to find out how much off with was, photo taken at an angle, looks more like a drill at real size. do you have micro. setting on camera it does not look like you used one flake scares are not showing good to help find ID and time of artifacts. i wish every one would post photos like your last one. love artifacts, drills, knives with the cortex on there base end! Terry
