    A basalt artifact??

I found this in a creek in Yadkin Co., NC. The material is basalt and I know tools can be made from this material. I see no lithics but the shape looks unusual.Could this possibly be a piece of an artifact or just something natural? I'm open ears to any opinions yall may have. Thanks!

Hi, I'm an amateur with this, but It looks intentionally created, not natural. This reminds me very much of a larger tool I found on my property after a heavy rain, same sort of basalt with a lot of shiny stuff and very heavy with "deliberately" beveled edges. I'm in Florida, tho, where basalt is not natural. I had imagined my ax head (or whatever it is) was a trade item to wind up down here. It's interesting that you are in NC. If I can figure out how, I'll send some pictures back to you. Appreciate any input from the Pros. mine was just a nice find, I'm not a collector.A basalt artifact??-p1030192.jpgClick image for larger version.

I'll speak for grimy ...those rocks don't seem to be altered by man.

I however, feel that with the geometric designs and patterns that are apparent in these rocks it can only lead us to believe they are of an extraterrestrial origin. Ancient astronaut theorists suggest that whenever anything is in question the answers can be found by blaming it on aliens.

Apparently I will have to develop a different kind of sense of humor to belong to this forum?

No need for that kid I'm the only one here that has a sense of humor. Everyone here is a serious artifact hunter and if they loosen up any they are afraid they will drop all the hematite out of their.......

Pretty much pics of rocks. The best criteria for artifacts is 'what would I use this for' and not 'it fits the hand perfectly'. You can manage to fit every rock you find into the hand perfectly if you try, doesn't make it a tool. I would lean towards the belief that these are alien artifacts, due to they appear to have been laser cut and I have a sense of humor.
    Just like Texas in 1880.
