FINALLY!! ,lol
well sunday is almost finally here, and its been a long 2 months because of wanting badly to show my gorget to the public. found it on march 18th 2012 the day of the last state show themed SLATE, lol. but went out hunting instead, good thing. thanks everyone for making my find a banner on tnet, means so much to me. thank u to my buddy shane for catching it all on film. Here is another pic of it for good measure, sorry will be last pic, lol. Still cant believe i found such a awesome piece. hopefully everyone will enjoy seeing it at the show. got my fingers crossed to finally have a attempt at a field find award. thanks so much, trevor.

Is the ASO show on Sunday? I had forgotten all about it and now have plans to do something with my wife that I know would tick her off royally if I blew it off so I guess I won't be going. If that piece doesn't win best of show at this show and best of the year in January then there is something wrong with the voters. Are you going to the Fort Salem summer show this year Trev? I am going to try me best to hit that one again and I would love to see that piece up close and personal.

The only way that piece doesn't bring home the ribbon/plaque is if someone found a really, really nice perfect birdstone or perfect notched ovate. That has to be one of the better examples of type.

Maybe it's just me down in slate deprived Florida, but that is the most exciting piece of slate I've seen found in recent years. Mentally flipping through Ohio Slate Types, I don't remember any examples that exceed it in design, material, workmanship, etc. It's rare to see one of the best of the type being found. It would take a helluva nice birdstone to even realistically be mentioned as one of the best ever found, the same goes for bannerstones.
