That's awesome, my guess would be missisippian from the style, but is there any way you could take a picture of the face with less light. Thanks for showing.

It looks to me to be either an effigy of a Trilobite or a Scarab. My guess is it's not as old as you might think, especially if it's of a Scarab. Very cool piece though, but I'd be willing to bet it's modern and probably less than 100 years old.

my first thoughts were scarab also,that was the fad back in the late 20-1930s after king tuts tomb was discovered
