Heres the best I can guess about the age..Caoner tang.(Overstreet)4,000-2,000
if the other is a Plainview(I think so)7,000-10,000 years.But who knows...The plaineview one was found a re-worked.Thousands of years after it was lost.I am eager to hear what everyone elsr thinks...Are all Plainviews ground at the base?....Thanx ...Geo

It looks to me to be a tang knife resharpened
to about done. Could be wrong probally am seems it
would snap as if it was drill out of kilter. Fantastic artifacts.

I agree with Bruce, I think you have a cornor notched knife that has been resharpend so many times it is about wore out. You would break it if you tried to drill with it.

That does not change the fact that it is a fantastic find, and well worth being on the banner as well as $$$$$

Congratulations on the artifacts and the banner.
Those are some great finds, especially the corner tang.
Do you know what kind of material the corner tang is made of?



Also I was wondering about the point pictured below.
I was wondering if someone can tell me the name of this type
of point and the age period that type comes from.
I have found a few broken ones of that shape and haven't
been able to nail down what they are called or how old they are.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure of the lithics for the corner tang,it's the first of that type I have found.
I also am not sure of the type for that square base point,that one is the best one that I found.They(base type) can be tuff to type...Any takers?

I agree with Bruce and Treasure_ Hunter. Most likely a corner tanged knife that was resharpened into a drill. Takes absolutely nothing away from the significance of the find or the rarity of the artifact. Another example of the resourcefulness and ingenuity of those who were here before us. Very banner worthy.

I love this ancient artifact. I hate to see it slowly march across the banner bar. But then its not for the glory is it? Its all in the hunt. Always the hunt that draws us on.

Hey Geo, I remember seeing your cornertang on the A.D. site, nice find...I would still be doing the happy dance...For the man that asked about hafting, the only example of a hafted cornertang that I have seen is in Dwain Roger's book about cornertangs...
