I don't have many pieces of Flint Ridge as we don't find many in Illinois. This is the only one that I have a picture of handy but its not a blade. The dove was found near Harrisburg in Illinois which is on the very South Eastern Edge of the state. It is about 5 inches long

Yeah but you've got sites that could produce artifacts like those. I can only buy it, or hope to find a rare and random piece in WV, I've never found any ridge in Va.

I had to have a piece of the ridge so I bought this kirk at the Collinsville show.
Not really a blade, but I thought I'd share.
It's from Sharpsburg KY.

Spectacular point Solll, a killer in all regards. I know Kirks vary alot from area to area and it could be a Kirk, but with the large notches and expanding base, it could be a Motley?

thats funny you mentioned that.when i first looked at it i thought it was more like a hopewell point than a kirk, kirks usually have much narrower notches.i once got into a debate with matt rowe on motleys, and from that debate he ruled out a motley being found that far out of the area of distribution,mo.,arks.okla.so who knows.i know its a killer piece.

Thanks for the compliments.
I just say Kirk because that was what the guy who sold it was calling it.
I think "Kirk" gets stuck on a lot of points that aren't really that type.

Haha, I know what you mean. I'm having a tough time staying in on this really nice day, I feel like I played two football games from kayaking up river and hunting yesterday. Good luck if you hit the creeks.
