I cant figure out what this bone tool was

I can't figure out what this bone tool was

this bone tool shows much use wear handling on the ends where the broken edges would be sharp had it not been handled alot for a long time
I don't know what this could have been
any ideas?

The cop out answer would be 'hide working' but I don't think so. Is that groove where a section of bone was cut out? I could see doing that for making another tool, but if that were the case the area where it was removed would not be that smooth.

the groove looks like it was shaved out when the bone was still green or soft
it also appears to have been cut out with a flint or chert flake blade
I wish like hell I could figure out what it was used for

Fascinating piece, whatever it is they put some work into it.

It looks to me like it was used for polishing something but I have no idea what. Notice the central groove (at the bottom of the larger groove).
