This copper bar was found near the menominee river (on private property) in northern wisconsin. it measures 11" by 1.5" by .5 and weighs 2.49 pounds and appears to be layered. I had a freind who works in a foundry check its content with a Xray Flouresent analyzer and it came up 99.3% pure copper (.3% iron) any ideas if it might be copper culture? it was over 6'' down in the mud

I beleive what you have is refered to as a "preform" and if so is copper culture. Would about bet on it!

Well as far as what it would have become is a shot in the dark as they would use it to make what ever tool was necessary at the time. I would guess that the size of it would indicate a larger item, punch, awl, harpoon or knife........could have been anything lol Still always great pulling something from the ground that has'nt been touched in a few thousand years!
