I finally found the time to hit the site and it was a really good hunt. I forgot the camera so no in situs.

I found the 2 Shell Discs, the Drill, and the Bone Awl within 20 minutes after getting there so I figured it would be a good day. The Stone Disc was just being rounded and isn't really finished but it's still a nice piece. You can see where they are squaring off the sides. The Drilled Tooth is really nice. It is bleached a bright white and has a really small hole. I also found a piece of Deer Antler that has been cut and the drilled out to be used as an Arrowpoint.

I love walking in the rain and have found plenty in my younger days, but can only go so far with 15lbs of mud on each boot in these years! :dontknow: ;D

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments.

1AB Hunter, the actual Ft Ancient State Park is located on St Rt 350 just south of Oregonia Ohio in Warren county. The name is actually a misnomer though since it was originally built and used by the Hopewell Indians and then later occupied by the Ft Ancient Indians from where it derived it's name. When I was growing up in Springboro Ohio my father would take us there every summer for a picnic and some hiking. I played all over that place as a kid and all over the banks of the Little Miami River and never once found any artifacts. I found a lot of fossils though.

Here's a link to the site.

Thanks Steve. The Bone piece might possibly have been used as a Tattoo instrument. It definitely has a very sharp tip.

those thin flint drills must be like the ones used to drill the hole in the end of a bone bracelet
they are so thin and delicate it is very difficult to find one that isn't broke
do you find this to be true also steve??

Oh yeah, I find a lot of tiny, delicate Drills that are usually snapped in half or have the tips missing.

Here's a couple of pictures of some really small Drills.
