Greetings,
my first topic in this forum.
Been Md'ing for almost 2 years, and eyeballed my first point a month or so back.
(quartz Kirks Notched)
I found an area on a tidal creek with lots of flint stones, not native to my area.
(southern NH)
Figured I'd look for flakes and points while I scanned for metals.
discovered a very hot rock, and grabbed a bunch of stones, thinking I'd try my hand at knapping.
Finished up the days hunt, and while rinsing my finds, I see the hotrock is a bead with what appears to be a vein and several flakes of gold visible.
I tone tested it against other metal items, US gold coins, various size nuggets, and some brass pieces. closest match is with a 2-1/2 dollar gold coin, fairly loud tone, with a hi 20s reading on my Safari.
Apparently there is more metal than visible in this stone.
I am hoping someone may have input on the possible origins
and history of this bead.
Any help is greatly appreciated
thanks for looking
