photo-8.JPG photo-9.JPG Very new to the native american artifact thing so excuse my ignorance please. I have some property near birmingham alabama that is adjacent to the cahaba river and I notice a weird mound mound that I thought might be an old Indian trash pit or something. I dug around in it a little and the dirt was very rich and easy to dig. I found this thing and was wondering if it was a pottery shard. The ridges on it look almost to straight to be hand made. I am hoping somebody might have a clue what this could be. Thanks!!

Looks like clay pigeon to me too. I find plenty shards of it in my artifact field, my son & friends would shoot em in that area, many still have the orange color, many are just like what you have in the pic.
