UDATE, i think i found another scraper. (photo at bottom) its actually pretty sharp. Hello all! Hit a field that's done me good in the past. This immediately jumped out at me. It definitely has an edge and appears worked. Any idea on what it is and the age would be greatly appreciated. Im not an expert in this area but know an artifact when i see one. I also found a couple broken points and a ton of flakes. Thanks & HH!

All scrapers I do believe. The large one is called a side scraper, at least that is what they are called here. The square one looks almost like a flint lock but might be a scraper.

Thanks! now that i think about it its probably a scraper. I should have referenced size, the other 2 pieces are small, one is def the base of a point but hard to tell by the pic.

Large one looks like a scraping tool or a crude chipped axe form, but more likely scraping tool. The base looks to be that of a Morrow Mountain.

Sorry I disagree, I am only seeing rocks shaped by nature, see no signs of work by man...

Better luck next time..

Ok! I live in the piedmont, and am familiar with what you have. Your last piece is a turtle shell scraper. I see a small flake or possibly a scraper in some of your middle pics. The big first piece is possibly a preform or blade, but not an axe or hawk. Nice finds bro!

Thanks! Your ID is dead on for the turtle shell scraper. That is the shape it was but is missing a few chunks. Thanks for the input! Can't wait to hit the freshly plowed field soon!

Me either!! I have been finding a few along the outskirts of wheat fields. I don't want to walk over the crop, so I stay outside of the field. Try not to even look in the field. If I see something in the field, a few pieces of wheat will have to be spared. Lol! Good luck!!

I went to my club meeting last night & consulted one of the resident experts on NA artifacts. The last piece is definitely a turtle back scraper, NC field hunter was dead on. The first item is definitely some sort of tool, possibly a hoe. (won 2nd place for that one)
