Shark-Tooth Weapons Reveal "Lost" Shark Species

Makes you wonder about drilled shark teeth..... I have only found one in all the years I've collected and I've always considered it a bead. I'm sure they used them as beads, too, but spikey, sharp beads don't sound too comfortable and make wicked weapons...

Just thinkin', that's when I get in trouble. b oom.

Thats crazy,that you posted that.When I first saw Gator boys,I thought about the weapons I seen at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu HI.,they looked like the ones in that article

Here is another thought... they were also likely used for incising and stipple on pottery.
I have one here that I believe was inserted into some kind of handle.
The shoulders of the root have been ground down.
And this second example shows use wear from some type of abrasion on the enamel. The tip is significantly dulled.

It seems it would be a natural tool that was readily available. Good article. Gladiators covered in shark teeth with shark tooth style brass knuckles. Formidable weapons said the missionaries.
