Effigy head Terracotta bowl identification needed

Can anyone offer information on the bowl I have? When do you think it was made and where it might be from?

my first question would be where did you get it? and can you offer any info at all?
my first thought when I read terrracotta was Mexico but after seeing the facial features I might think Africa.
Does it say anything on the bottom or anywhere else?

It doesn't have any markings on it. i got it from another antique dealer. I think it may be African folk art of some sort. I wished i had some background on it. I just really liked the looks of it. I figure I probably am the only one with one in my city. lol
