A little while back, I found a chunk of obsidian in a NC field that I hunt. It wasn't worked at all but I knew what it was. Due to some post doubting that I had really found obsidian, I asked Kuger if he minded sending me a few chunks of obsidian I could compare my find with. Boy oh boy did he!! I wasn't expecting artifacts, only obsidian in the raw. My jaw hit the ground when I opened the package with these in it.

Gator, it's on! I'm finding the VA. Obsidian source. This is beautiful stuff worked. And I found an unworked slab here. It is lower grade than the western obsidian but still nice.

My absolute pleasure Rusty,as said I have buckets of obsidian...many are halves etc.I am going to take a bunch back and put em back this summer, let somebody else enjoy em.There is some Davis Creek Grey in there I think?A piece of Snowflake(not a very good specimen)and some Mahoghany. The slivers have what is called silver sheen on them...those are a total mystery to me/us...they are natural, some places have hundreds of them? The worked pieces have a nice desert patina!Again,my pleasure

The snow flake obsidian is the one that is not translucent at its thickest spot, correct? That is what I found here. It was only translucent around the edges, and white spots were present.

I'm in NC on the VA. Line. VA. Is one of two states in the eastern part of the country that obsidian is found. That is due to two dormant volcanoes in VA. The obsidian finds near my hunting grounds are rarely anything besides Clovis and Folsom points. So, Clovis points made of obsidian are not impossible. However, if I ever find one, I think I'll retire.

That was the coolest thing I have seen someone do in awhile. That made my day reading this thread. My hat is off to both of you.

I love the way obsidian blades look. Man some of the ceremonial pieces are works of art. The porsh of projectile points… pretty much useless for everyday use but they look darn good!

Beautiful stuff!
