I have been told it was found in OK. It weighs 6.5 lbs . 12 x 6 inches . Probably quartzite. Does any one have any thoughts on age or use or valuation .Thanks 2013-09-11_22-43-23_466.jpg 2013-09-11_22-43-48_788.jpg

Welcome to the site luna. From what I can see it looks like a nice ax. Congrats on owning it, rock

NC, that's a really nice find. Did you find that in our area? I have never seen one.

I actually found this one out on the VA. Line. Heading toward SoBo. Yep! In our area. I'd say this is my favorite personal find. My dad has found some nice points that I call mine. I accidentally mislead people when I call his finds mine. I have 3 grooved axes that are personal finds. This one is a raised ridge and by far the rarest style grooved axe in our area.

Here's the biggest one we have found in the field that never fails. My little brother found it about 6 years ago. 12.5 lbs. 10.5 inches long.

It's a 3/4 groove NC. I wasn't trying to hijack your thread Luna. Just comparing pieces. They're all phenomenal!
