the site is curious...the apache remains, are temporary...no fire pit in evidence...
I suspect that the apache occupied the site during the contact period, most likely when hiding from the US.
the wikiup rings are small...clearly temporary shelters, for one person.

So this was from the era of contact? I guess it had to be if we are calling them by a tribe name and not a time period. Glad that some specific events and places are not lost to time. Rough yet pretty area!

the sinagua site is probable 11-1200ad, occupation...sinagua is the name of the natives of this period in the area.
the apache/yapapai both occupied the area...both used brush shelters...the military confused the two tribes and just killed them as they found them.
wickedly beautiful...dangerous climb even if no one is rolling rocks down on you.
the hilltop is around 5,400ft above sea level...about 600ft above the surrounding area...
