Hi all I posted this on the wrong forum before but found it was Celt.

My mother recently found what looks to be a Indian artifact. The item was found near her pond while she was planting plants. She lives North East of Front Royal Virginia on a mountain by a creek that feeds into her pond. Who used it and how we should go about looking for other artifacts on her property?

I would probably start in the creek, search along the creek bank, and you could rake back the leaves to see if you can find any pottery shards and artifacts on the surface too. If you do happen to find pottery that could be a possible Woodland site. Then, if you want, you could try digging right in that area b/c you could find archaic artifacts there. Sometimes they came back to the same sites on up to the Woodland period. If you have any eroded areas or clear-cuts on that property that may be where possible artifacts will be exposed. Very nice celt by the way! That's definitely a keeper! 8-)
