I was just showing this to someone and thought I might as well post.
This thing is like a needle.

That is a beauty.I would agree I find a lot more older stuff in general here in Maine with the exception of pottery.I usually find more wood working tools than anything. This year has been an exception 3 points to one adze so far but its still early...mjm

Thanks for chipping in... Seems maybe a shift to a more fishing oriented lifestyle happened near the coast during that time.

Now that baby sure is a beauty! :icon_thumleft: I have found a few that are needle sharp like that, and makes you think that they were shot when there was snow on the ground and lost without any damage.

Nice find GatorBoy! I had a few heads that went missing when I got divorced in 05'. What's the story of the artifact you have as your avatar? It looks like something used to skin an animal.

Thank you... my avatar is a drilled shark tooth.
A tiger shark tooth actually.
I think some of them were used as jewelry.. But some of them have use wear and other evidence that points to them being used for decorating pottery... And some artifacts have actually been recovered that suggest they were tired to shaft and club like weapons.
Sorry about your losses.
