I haven't been having a lot of luck lately but I knew if I kept at it I would eventually find something. I found these two pieces today in one of my favorite creeks in southern Illinois.

Any suggestions on the type? Based on the research I have done I believe the darker one is a Hardin. Thoughts??

Great looking finds BobGuy. I think the one on the left is a Kirk Corner Notch, not a Hardin. Still a killer find and great looking material.

QUESTION:
How long do you think the darker point could have been in the creek? It is very crisp and seems like it just came out of the ground where it was preserved for thousands of years. Can I assume it was washed in within a hundred yards or could I have come from a mile downstream? I know there is no way to know for sure but what is your opinion?

Congratulations, awesome point! I have little to no experience on creek hunting, but I would bet money that it came out of the bank somewhere close, or somewhere further upstream, rather than downstream

Usually the darker the stain the longer in the creek. But it could of fell out of the bank rite where you found it and never even did a tumble if it landed rite. Just might of been there for a long time.

After looking at the point again I believe that is the natural color of the flint. I don't see any creek stain on it.
