hey hey those are really cool finds.....they sure are polished nice....and such beautiful material
that one piece that we found never got figured out but it seemed too large to be for an ear piece

i will try to find that picture of it for comparison

oh ok i think i know what you mean now

we call them 'the melted plastic' pieces most are broke but we have some that are complete

i will see about finding some images for you.......ok??

so is it fair to figure that most indian artifacts we know of are either obviously functional (point, knives, scrapers, etc.) or for idle time, game tokens and the like....or for adornment, like beads, teeth, pendants, etc. Some are more like tools, banner stones, manos, axes, pestles, fire starters....so does where does this piece fit into one of those categories?
modern day ear stretchers look similar...

Just a thought.

It seems like the small, flanged ends could possibly be inserted through the back of the earlobe leaving the long sections hanging underneath and behind the ears. Then, the little flanged "knob" would show as a normal earring would. I know little to nothing concerning artifacts, so please excuse me if I'm way off. I see people all the time wearing very similar ear plugs in the fashion I mentioned.
