Thanks bro!Nice finds Rusty. I like that big quartz point. Heck, I like them all.
The color of slate? Personally, I have found grey/black, green and brown. I'm not swearing this point is slate. I'm interested in why you say it isn't slate. The more I study geology, the more confused I get.Nice finds there NC. On your slate point what color is it where you are at? I know sometimes its a different color when posted. Doesn't look slate to me is the reason I ask. Unless your slate is a different color than ours.

Thanks Painter! Digger, I'm not really holding out. I haven't been out as much this summer. When I do get out, my finds are the same ol same ol. No jasper Clovis from a gopher hole, no tally marked gorgets, nothing like what I see you guys posting. Lol! Rock, that stone does have a purple hue to it. It may be a rhyolite that I'm unfamiliar with. Here is another piece similar.Nice finds rusty glad your having some luck boss !!!
If you would like a little hands on with rhyolite, PM me an address monster. I'd be glad to send you a few worked pieces and a blank or two if you want to play around with it. I know you enjoy knapping. Rhyolite is similar to obsidian.I have never held a piece of Rhyolite, is it a soft stone and what I have seen of it posted, I have never seen any with bands like that piece
