Native American Necklace Real Or Not?

I'm new to this forum and found it while trying to find some info on a necklace that I found in an antique store in North Carolina. The beads are glass. I'm not sure about the claws. I'm wondering if anyone can tell just from the pictures where or when it was made and if it is truly an antique Native American piece or not.

Thanks for your help,

BT

Yeah. That's what I figured. Any idea what animal those claws are from?

I believe that the are hawk talons. If real, VERY illegal to own or sell. Steve

The claws may be bear claws. Was this in a shop in western NC mountains? If so, it's possible that it is an antique from the Cherokee reservation and may be valuable to an antique jewelry collector. It could be old but my guess would be like 50 to 100 yrs old. Try posting it in this section: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/jewelry/ and see if they know anything about it.

Not sure of type of claw but they don't look like bear to me. They are to thin look at a photo of bear claw and you will see what I'm saying.

Maybe, but I saw some online that were not thick. On this necklace it might be faux hawk or eagle claws lol Either way it's a beautiful necklace and might have been worn by someone at a pow wow, to me it looks like something for a special occasion or maybe costuming for dancing, it's got some nice colors. I saw some online selling for a lot of money and this one looks real close to those.

Those are Raptor Claws of some kind and not Bear. Most likely Hawk and if real illegal to own unless you are Native American.

Google Porcupine Claws/necklace - I seen one advertised as legal substantiation for Hawk talons

Yeah, I vote for porcupine claws. I have bear claws and made a bear claw "gourd dance" necklace with 6 of them -- the claws in the original post ain't bear.

Or maybe crows. Cool to own but a reproduction. Welcome to the forum Brandon.
