This is a permanent display at the local museum here in Portsmouth, Ohio. It was donated by the Wertz family and is just a massive collection. A lot of these artifacts came from the areas sites and mounds. Hope you enjoy and the pictures don't do this collection justice. I have seen those in person and they are really nice to view. They are pretty cramped in the displays as you can see from your pics. These represent a fraction of the finds. The Wertz family built homes in portsmouth. And they would salvage these from the mounds that they razed to build homes.

I live in a house that was built approximately on one of the earthworks in Portsmouth. No Hauntings by ghosts, but I have found a good amount of artifacts right in my backyard while working. I understand that when the collection was donated to the museum from the Wertz family that they had to repatriate human bones before the museum could accept the collection. I am amazed by the collection, but the earthworks and artifacts that were destroyed in the recovery saddens me. Just complete recklessness and without consideration of the culture of these people.
