Notched fossil or something... has it been worked?

I posted this over in the fossil forum to see if that's the source material. Had it for a while and have always wondered about its unique shape and features. What do y'all think this is, and has it been worked/ground/worn to make the odd notched end? Found a few years ago in a southeast Texas creek.

Looks like Limestone to me with a hard outer crust.
