Here are some of my recent finds. Both of the tote lids are covered with 2 separate days worth of clay pot chunks...about 2 hrs on each day. I have about 4 gallons of pottery from this one spot. I find some cool scaling type designs on a lot of it but others look like part of a drawing as seen below. Also a pic of my better stuff from this year. The points are getting harder to find but they are there. Most of these finds are fairly well concentrated... do any of you ever dig to find stuff and if so how does one zero in on an exact spot to dig? Any info on these would be greatly appreciated.

Nice finds ! I think the 3 triangular points are woodland period projectiles, and probably date roughly to the time frame that the pottery shards were produced. The 3 other points look to be considerably older to me, being from the early to mid archaic periods. The one on the left with the broad blade and constricting stem I would call a "Morrow Mountain" type point, and the next two I would call "Kirks", the middle one being notched, and the one on the right, stemmed.
As far as digging goes, if you have permission, I would start in what appears to be the most concentrated area, and see what you find? HH

I have permission to look for them but will have to inquire about the diffing. I will also have to wait till winter.

I don't dig but have found Morrows To Mississippian period all in the same field in my area. All the fields here are full of corn. If I was to dig I would go the high ground near a water source. All the high hills show signs of NA activity in my area.
