Aww man! If I could just find 1 nice carving I might be able to resume metal detecting. Hate to veer off topic but I wonder if anyone has seen a precontract owl ever? I've heard they were a sign death was approaching to many tribes. I'd be surprised if many wanted to carve them. My apologies heartsongs. Had to seize the chance to ask.

Not all Native Americans believed that, this is my best find! pp finds 9-15-13 038.JPG

Here are some of my South American effigies...Like Charl said...you don't need to use your imagination to tell that they are man made.

Mother nature can make some neat stuff. These next photos are all mother nature artifact nots 004.JPG learning points for newbies 017.JPG Looks like a broken pipe and game stone but it's not.

These are all man made as well. They were made by me out of a local Pipestone that is found about 15 miles from my house. The Turtle is the first one I ever did. The Frog I was going to make into a Pipe but I was afraid of it splitting in two. The Buffalo didn't turn out near as well as I had hoped. The material was really bad and hard to work. All of these were done with a Dremel and some small incising tool.

Monsterrack great pieces, they look like they are from the Caribbean.

They are Joshuaream some Tiano stuff I picked up in Haiti. I got to know a missionary there and he started showing me the stuff the local would bring for payment of service and I just had to get some.

Wow that's amazing. I was in Haiti and helped with relief after the earthquake. I was there 3 weeks. However to busy never got to look for anything there. Was in a gun protected site that didnt allow for you to wander

Hi Reaper, I am interested in buying the buffalo if you might consider selling. That is quite the talent. Let me know.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks, I appreciate the offer but I think I'll keep them. I have a lot of time in each piece and they mean more to me than money.
