Any ideas on this broken point?

This was passed down to me years ago. Found in Illinois-probably a mississippian or woodland site. It is broken, but any ideas what type/date it is?

Judging from the thickness shown in the side view picture I'm guessing you've just got the better part of the tip of a knife, but can't tell for sure without a straight on picture or two of the broken base. The period you suggested is probably right though.
