My 10 yo son and I have only gone hunting 2 times. This was about 20 minutes into our second trip. Looks nice to me but we really dont know much about them yet. I have a lot of other pieces I would like to post for some input if you all dont care. This was found by a lake in north central Iowa. Most everything else we have found is either nothing or broken. I may try to post some pics of that stuff later. Thanks any input on this point would be appreciated.

Looks like a Hemphill or an Oseola not sure about artifacts from your area.Miidle to late archaic 7000-5000BP.Does the base of the point have any grinding? Aground base is found on the Osceola.Nice find by the way.... ;D

VERY nice find! I love the 'stripe' marks/bands-- it's just beautiful! Good work. Just a thought- because everyone else does this... Put a ruler or something-or-other in the picture so we can see the relative size of your point. Happy Hunting!!! ;D

I see an archaic flute on that piece and it's a real nice point. It could be either point type, so I will just call it an archaic side notch point. Either way you go like I said it's still a nice point!

Talking about the flute on that point, I saw an interesting picture once. It was a Clovis point recovered by a later culture and then side notched for hafting. I had it saved but somehow it is no longer in my computer.

I have seen afew of those points, rare, but they are out there. One of my buddies found one in S.IL and boy is it a neat point. I'll try and get a pic. of it for you all.
