A couple Maine plummets

Did a little digging today and found these two plummets.They were found about a foot apartment.They represent two different types of plummets.The taller bowling pin style is grooveless and the shorter rounder type which has the groove.I've found the taller style both with and without grooves....late archaic...mjm IMAG0174.jpg

I wonder why the little one shows damage? They werent used as weapons were they?

They are fish weights.Both of them are very rough.Some are definitely better made...better stone ....more intricate...mjm

You would think they would of just used a ugly rock for a weight but thanks for the info

Well I know they make fancy ones...I've yet to find a really intricate one but I do have about a dozen plain Jane's....
