We had some nice storms roll through Monday morning so I headed down right after work to hunt a while. I got in the field around 6:15 and immediately saw fresh footprints everywhere which bummed me out. This field looks like a football field on steroids. It it almost perfectly flat and about 500 yards long by 100 yards wide. Of to the left though is a large ridge so I decided to try it before I left and it hadn't been walked in quite a while. I did pretty well for a two hour hunt The Stemmed Point I though was Adena and Carter Cave and after cleaning it up I can see it's Boyle Chert and I'm sure it's a Middle to Late Archaic Stemmed Point. The base is ground pretty well and I don't think the Adena ground the bases on their Points. I also found a couple other Stemmed Points, a small Hafted Scraper made from an exhausted Ohio Pentagonal Point, and the usual group of Flake Tools and Preforms.
Here are some pics of the in situs of the best finds and some close ups of the Stemmed Point. You can see where the tip was damaged from an impact fracture and reworked.
