Hi! New to the forum - have been walking a beach on northern shore of Long Island in a town where there had been Native Americans at one time. I occasionally pick some rocks up that look like they might be special but I'd love to know if anybody here recognizes anything or whether they're just cool-shaped rocks.

I don't see anything that say's artifact, some would call some of those paint stones, but I say they are all natural. Keep hunting you will find something. Welcome to T-net:hello:

Could we get a better shot of #6 top , bottom and sides.

These are just your basic Long Island paint pots. I hunt the north shore all the time and have found some really great pieces. Be patient and keep searching!!! Good luck!

Thank you! So are paint pots not actually artifacts... just some sort of natural formation?

Those bowl like stones are natural but were sometimes used for paint cups. Some of them could be artifacts, I've see a few here in AZ w/ dried pigment in them.
