I found this one today in a creek where I have permission to hunt. I was starting to think I wouldnt find a thing due to it had been 3 hours since a broken find. As I walked to this spot I was thinking I have never found anything here but might as well look. It was laying on some gravel that was stained black and there was no way to miss it. Might make my year for flint find. Its just under 3 inches long. Hope you like it, rock
I found a couple other things that made me smile.

Very nice point although I don't think it is made of flint but maybe a jasper material.

I was hoping somebody would tell me what its made from. It has quartz inclusions in it Im lucky it was whole the way it was sitting sideways on the cobbles. The next rain surly would of broke it in half like so many I find and dont post. Here is a dry pic to help you decide what type of material it is.

From my understanding, flint comes from England and France. English flint is darker grey/almost black and French flint is light brown almost coastal plains looking . I also understand that true flint can be found along the eastern coast as it was used as ship ballast, dumped, ships loaded and off they went.

I may be wrong and according to my wife I have been wrong many times, lol. You can google flint and get a better description.

I could show people rock on here that I make arrows heads out of and they would never guess what Island it came from but it looks like rock found here in the states.

Flint is natural in many states in the US. Arkansas being one of those states. I too used to hear that all the time about flint being imported from other countries and they very well may have imported some but not all flint found is imported. There is a place I detect that I could literally spend all day long digging through nothing but flint that is all natural.

Thanks I enjoyed finding it seeing it was so hot. I didnt go all the way to the end where the good stuff usually is just so many thorny vines I decided to go on home after seeing the red one. Maybe next time
