Hard to say- I find stuff like this also where chert doesn't naturally belong...

What I notice is that smooth groove across the middle. I'd like to know how that occurs (made?), as I see it often in smaller pieces I find like yours.

I know, I am a ton of help. ;)

I have no knowledge of how material naturally fractures..but I would have picked that up for sure...thinking it had been worked.

That top photo the very top of the piece looks pressure flaked from here at the very least....
