No one really knows. The majority believe it was a type of weight or counter balance for the atalatl; a long bore stick with a point attached used for hunting mega fauna. I think the aformentioned is rubbish. It was worn in the hair.

This is certainly a very odd find.

I'd love to see what this is.

I do disagree with putting the statement "Banner" in the title though

Something like this must be viewed by others first, allow us to nominate finds...

Otherwise you're throwing only your opinion in - your expectations.

I'm not sure I want to risk your wrath, but, without a size comparison, it's harder to make a guess as to what it was used for. The fact that you titled this "REEL banner", Of course my first thought went to fishing REEL, or Banner stone.
Anyway, it's a beautiful piece. I can see it being used to hold lengths of rawhide, or sinew.
As a woman, I cannot understand how it would be used as a ornament in the hair, but ??, I'm not a fancy kind of woman.

You said no one really knows what it was used for. YOU can make an educated guess, same as I can.
My post suggested a size comparison.

And why are you quoting yourself?????
That's like talking to yourself...
