i found these yesterday evening after work its the first peice of gorgets ive ever found .I was stoked to find them even being broken.I also found an oblong peice which appears to be polished somewhat not sure what it is maybe just a rock but i believe it was used in some way.I found all of these in about 2 hours in a field which hasnt been worked in about 2 years but it has had a whole bunch of rain on it in that time lots of grass and weeds but also some patches of bare ground

Really nice finds .... Crazy you never found one than 2 in one day. That red and tan point is killer. What do you think the big brown one was looks like it's broke on the one side .... Could it have been a small axe that broke in half?

Nice finds and has to be a good spot.:icon_thumleft: The item that you wondered about could have been used for something but I know it was near a fire at one time due to the red color on the end.

Pic 3 to me would make sense as a boiling stone for heating a pot of water or stew. The other is a broken Gorget as you can tell by the tally marks. Great hunt

thanks for the comments. The red color really stood out to me.I was wondering what the cause of that was i just atributed it to use of some kind .Where it was found means a lot.

You had a great day! Congratulations on your awesome finds! I'm fairly new to this and have two questions. What is a gorget and what do the tally marks mean or represent? On the point with the red tip - what is the type of flaking on it? It appears to go all the way across the stone. Very pretty point!

If you have time, a picture of the other side of the yellow/red point would be nice.

this point has large flakes taken off it i guess that was just the makers style may have been hard material to work with 20170331_065238.jpg 20170331_065144.jpg

To me the point looks to of had a large stack the maker was trying to get rid of and was working around it. Must of liked the material cause he or she could of gotten a new rock if they wanted to. Probably just decided to make a knife out of it instead of a projectile point. It tells a interesting story.

Nice finds mud!! Question, on the slate piece are you sure that's a second drill hole? The tally marks would be on the outer edge so why would there be a hole on the edge. Could've been a repair job, hard to say. What is the material of the other drilled piece, how thick is it?
