I tend to think everything is something. Any opinions on what this is, even if it's just a rock, would be greatly appreciated.

From what I can see I am leaning towards a natural unworked rock. If it was worked there would be full-length flaking along a working edge or face. Don't give up on your pursuit of those elusive artifacts, you are on the right tract of possible worked artifacts.
