My daughter found this on the edge of a river bed. It's dense like stone. The light parts look a hit orange when you look closely. The front and back appear to have been painted or glazed brown/black. Any thoughts? Is it anything?
It doesn't quite look like NA pottery, but I'm not holding it. Don't think NAs ever used glaze in our area. Running water (creeks/rivers), clay, and time can sometimes form pottery "look-a-likes".
I find pieces of crockery too and love them. They have a unique history all their own in my area of western NC associated with the first settlers. I keep them and hope you do too. It's a very cool find!
