    What is it?

A friend of mine showed me this a while back, it was from a local collection which I also bid on but he got this one piece. I think it is made of hematite, it is very heavy, and just super polish on it .I havent seen anything quite like it , if anyone knows what it might be or any thoughts on it I would love to hear it.Click image for larger version.

Hand adze and a beauty. A chisel I think would be struck with a wooden mallet. Start out long and grind and sharpen often during use. Towards the end they might have converted it into a chisel as it got shorter.
