    WIKI:

"British Empire awarded gorgets to chiefs of American Indian tribes both as tokens of goodwill and a badge of their high status.[8] Those being awarded a gorget were known as gorget captains[9] Gorgets were also awarded to African chiefs[10]In colonial Australia gorgets were given to Aboriginal people by government officials and pastoralists as insignia of high rank or reward for services to the settler community. Frequently inscribed with the word "King" along with the name of the tribal group to which the recipient belonged (despite the absence of this kind of rank among indigenous Australians), the "breastplates", as they came to be known, were highly regarded by those who received one.[11]"

Is that what is is? Please forgive my ignorance, as I have never seen one...

I don't suppose it would've been that difficult to forge one for themselves. Looks more like a mini boat anchor, but too small to be of real use even for a raft.

I would rather see an authentic broken scraper posted than a G-10 Artifake!

This is a prehistoric American Indian gorget. The natives never made them of metal. They are very prized pieces for any artifact collector. I have been looking for one since I was a kid and have never found one. Great job.

Very nice! That is a survivor. They are becoming rare especially from the plows. Congratulations on your polished drilled gorget.
