Hi. Still looking for a time period, also would like to talk to someone with site excavation experience. the red arrowhead pictured by itself was found at a depth of four feet, about 16 feet above everything else. if it would help to identify a time period I can post more pictures ( have over 1500 of them ) or close-ups. . 20180430_040106.jpg 20180430_040315.jpg 20180430_100950.jpg 20180430_101331.jpg 20180430_101338.jpg 20180430_101622.jpg 20180430_103311.jpg 20180430_103355.jpg 20180430_103412.jpg 20180430_103531.jpg

Can't help you on the age. Don't know anything about N CA area if that is you're location. Nice point and (obsidian?) flakes. Appears like the one stone had been drilled (the one with the 2 quarters in pic.) and lots of the same stone used for maybe some purpose. But, are you saying the point (red arrowhead) was found at a depth of 4 feet, and you've excavated to a depth of 20 feet (4 + 16= 20 feet)??? Be careful of the CA laws.

Yes , 4 feet and 20 feet. the property is privately owned by a family member. So legality is not a problem. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your interest. No shovel or backhoe. using a screwdriver to chip a few square inches out at a time. LOL. but true. it all started with a little piece of obsidian sticking out of the side of a steep hill when I was walking down the seasonal creek that borders our property. I am heading up there in a few minutes, about an 80 minute drive. No cell service up there . Will be back down Friday and have more time and hopefully more artifacts. Appreciate your input.

You dug down 20 feet with a screwdriver? Well, if I had an award for "Most Dedicated Artifact Collector of the Century", you, sir, would get that award hands down!

If you look at the picture above I think he is just digging at the bottom of a 20 foot wall in the creek. He didn't dig down 20 feet with a screwdriver. I was wondering the same thing until I saw the picture. I thought to myself that there is no way anyone can dig that deep with just a screwdriver unless they been at for 20 years. Kinda like Shawshank Redemption. lol

I guess your dog is sad because he didn't find anything that day !

GREAT SITE !

No . Her name is Sierra. The sad look is because I walked across the creek to take the picture and told her to stay. Every time she is left out of water time, I get that look. lol.

Yes, I like looking at the obsidian the most but the rocks tell a lot more of the story than the obsidian ever can.

Need a good wiggle stick for those high banks. Banks are tough as stuff over the years slides down from the top mixing up the layer. Nice site though and love the digging on private lands.
