Slowly getting into the hobby of Native American artifacts. We own a small farm and went out looking for 3 hours today. 15 minutes in, I found something that looks like the bottom portion of some type of arrowhead. Anyone else from the area?

Sorry for the sideways pictures.

Thank you! Looking for a few hours especially in the 90 degree sun is quite taxing. Got a nice tan though!

Ohio is a great place for artifacts. Are there any streams or any land features that would have appealed to ancient people on your land?

There aren’t any major features where I live but not to say the smaller streams or natural lakes in the area wouldn’t still draw attraction. I basically went out on a whim in hopes to finding something on our 24 acre farm. We owned it for about 20 years. Been plowed since we owned it so I’m guessing if I find anything else, they will be heartbreakers.

I did find what somewhat appears to fire rock in one area. I can post a picture to see if it is fire rock.

Fire cracked rock is a good sign they were cooking. And, just because your ground has been plowed doesn't mean everything is broken. There still may be plenty of smaller whole points. Small ones survive the plow better than long pieces of flint. And a plow won't destroy and axe or celt. Good Luck! Gary

Yeah, this. I hunt fields that have been plowed since the 1800's, and I still find intact points in those fields. Far fewer then in the golden days, when hunters cleaned up in those fields, but they still turn up on my luckier days.

Oh I’m still going to look and hope for the best. I’m happy to know that there was activity on/near our property but how much is unknown. Im about a 25 minute car ride from a well known Native American Village in my county but where I live, seems kinda like a crapshoot.

Found a couple more today. Rained a little last night so figured what the heck. Both were found within about 100 feet of each other along where my original find came from in my first post. Could this have been part of a village or campsite or coincidentally they were shot in the same area. The tiny one I found I have no clue what it is. Sorta looks worked on one side but smooth/flat on the other. It’s a translucent material also which is foreign to where I’m at. 94F855BF-6CB1-4E41-BA35-3FB8DED6744C.jpeg 94F855BF-6CB1-4E41-BA35-3FB8DED6744C.jpeg 40A32959-DD1F-4670-957B-E333D31BDAF0.jpeg
