Need help in ID'ing

New to this community, would appreciate any feedback. Have no idea if this is an artifact or a just an interesting rock. Found on Cedar River sandbar in southern Black Hawk Co IA.

I agree. It shows no signs of being altered or utilized by man.

that is a spall from what looks like basalt. it is very common to see that form in nature. yours is also very water worn.
