I got out yesterday for a few hours and headed down the river the tide was really low but the sea grass and algae was terrible on the shores. I hit all of the spots I usually have pretty good luck and didn’t find a single thing not even a flake .... so after a few hours of that I decided to head back but for whatever reason I checked a spot that I have passed by so many times and thought it just didn’t look like it would be any good ...... man was I wrong ... I’m pretty sure it was a small campsite due to the how many large cores I found worked and tools scattered everywhere as well as about 6 pieces of pottery. Unfortunately I was short on time and only got to spend about 30 min there and found all this. Should be a good site

Here’s a pic of the conditions

Congrats on the new spot! It looks like it's a good one. That is a cool piece of pottery.

Some of my spots are getting covered with seaweed too. I sometimes take a rake in my boat.

That spot is going to be great. Could you use a broom to sweep the shores or is that legal. I have used a leaf blower to clear out shelters.

That place looks like it's gonna be great. Good assortment of things, with a bunch of different lithics, in that short time smells good. That algae would suck, does it go away soon or is it slimed for months

I am excited for you, and agree with everyone that it seems that will be a relatively high density spot once the hunting conditions improve. I love the material on that first side notched point, looks to be a chalcedony, or cool translucent chert of some type. I hope we get a good drenching early next week, we haven't had a drop of rain down my way for 3 weeks now. HH

Thanks , that’s one of the biggest pieces of pottery I have found .... I sometimes do some raking depending on how my back and knees are feeling

The algae does go away but not until fall into winter .... best time is start of spring and than it kinda goes down hill from there although I do quite a bit of hunting in the winter time to depending on the ice

Yeah that side notched would have been sweet I have never found anything made from that material before I think it’s a translucent chert with a deep river stain I have it soaking to see if it cleans up any. Hopefully I can make it back out there soon the only thing odd is how many broken pieces there are everywhere.... usually river finds are more intact but there was broken tools , cores , and the points I found all over. Looked more like stuff you would see in a plowed field but I’m sure some intact ones will pop up.
