Nice assortment of finds ! Has all this recent rain washed the algae and sea weeds off your hunting grounds, or are these field finds? You got some nice sized and decorated pottery shards there. I have yet to find a piece of pottery over here that is more than one inch square. I am intrigued by the large quartzite blade with cortex remaining on both sides. Our local pre-historic peoples seem to have targeted those relatively flat quartzite cobbles to make tools and points from. I have found several down my way in different stages of manufacture, and they are always a welcome find. HH

Thank you, the tide was really low but the rain had no impact on the algae .... it’s terrible rite now the spot I found these has about 25 feet of beach exposed at low tide and I’d say 20 of it was completely covered by algae and sea grass so all this was found at the very top near the bank .... I have bad knees so I’m usually kneeling the whole time and I was clearing large sections of the grass but it didn’t lead to any finds. The black flint point was a surprise it was found on a section where the sand had built up about 3 feet higher than rest of the beach and it was all nice soft sand with no rocks on it ... the point was the only rock on it so it was easy to spot but I’m not sure how it made it’s way all the way up there next time out I’m gonna do some sifting and see what’s under all that sand. The bigger quartz knife I thought was cool too it’s weird they left the cortex and it’s completely flat where the cortex is on both sides maybe it wasn’t in the way and was just easier to leave it intact. As far as the pottery i also never seem to find pieces over about 1” X1” the pieces I found the last 2 trips out are the biggest ones I have found ... both from same site and it’s a new spot so I really can’t wait for all the algae and grass to disappear I think it’s gonna produce some good finds.
