Artifacts in Maine are hard to come by this time of year.Got out last week for a few hours.Open ground was limited.Sometimes when you are restricted to smaller amounts of ground you become more thorough.. IMG_20190127_140054.jpg I had a more productive day than I usually do in the summer when it's all open..This is along the Penobscot river...I was able to pick up a few scrapers and a broken point and I believe a small piece of drilled slate... IMG_20190128_174513.jpg broke kineo rhyolite point.Heres a few thumbscrapers.. IMG_20190127_165404.jpg This is made from Munsungon chert that was mined About 170 miles north of me at Munsungun lake...mjm

Cool stuff. I've knapped some Mt. Kineo ryholite, interesting stuff! Stupid question --and I've actually tried to google it and didn't find an answer-- is it pronounced like kin-ee-oh or kah-nay-oh, or something else?

Thanks, that was how I was pronouncing it but someone here in Virginia recently told me it was the other way. I posted some Mt. Kineo work in the section on modern knapping.
