    It's a creek pebble , in this part of the south everything was deposited by ancient rivers from glaciers wash. We do have some quartzite deposits, but they are deep, you can access them by river cuts in certain areas.

    On one end it is a triangle, but on the end with the chipped bit it is oblong. It's a natural stone that fit what they wanted.

    Cool ! I can't add anything to the conversation, just chiming in that I also can't recall ever seeing a drill, awl, or tool made that way, quite unique . HH
