This is going to be one of my last posts for a while, but I wondered if this piece of quartz on one edge looks worked. I found it in an area with known native activity. Thoughts? Thanks for humoring me and my never ending sea of inane posts.
Looks like it may be a scraper..... those ridges on the edge usually are man made but the quartz doesn’t look like the best quality... tough call but I would lean more towards yes
Thanks for the responses, I had thought it something but I am never sure. The pictures I took are of low quality, and the quartz is actually fairly nice. It is yellow in color, and lacks inclusions or major faults. It's sort of amazing, how so many signs of this land's previous inhabitants can be found. It makes me wonder about population densities/concentrations of that era.
Doubtful-those flake edges are likely post deposit damage. I’ve seen thousands of these in the field and during my field schools while getting my doctoral in anthropology. Not enough to conclude any modifications by humans.
