Hey y’all! Today was a day full of heartbreakers. I’m trying to get as many eyes as I can on the paleo-shaped point with the ears. Does anyone have an opinion on this one—paleo or not? Also found some wicked cool knives/blades made out of the native sillimanite found at this site. Not sure I’ve ever seen any documented relics made out of this material! Also found a neat little preform that’s worked on one side and completely smooth on the other.

Thanks and enjoy!

There’s no mistaking that classic southern red dirt. Looks like you have some rhyolite lithics, -but I defer to your knowledge. I’m not familiar with sillmanite. I don’t know what to make of that bifurcated uniface. The one with the devil horned ears may be a YADKIN-EARED. This ID would make it a Late Woodland to Mississippian artifact.
Nice group of artifacts!

Classic looking NC points. How close are you to Davidson county? Since I'm not seeing any quartz finds, I'd guess pretty close.

Thanks for the info y’all. MAMucker & arrow86–thanks for the ID input on the eared point. Everywhere I’ve posted this thing I’m getting mixed opinions between Hardaway and Yadkin. The two have some similarities for sure. Wish knew how to differentiate between the two. The research I’ve done has me leaning towards Hardaway because of the narrowing of the waist above the ears but I’m not 100% convinced either way.

ptsofnc—I’m in Iredell Co. Not too far away at all!
