The fire break road that I often walk is littered with little flakes of various different materials.
Over the years people have just about collected all of the artifacts that are not buried or covered in weeds. Found this interesting rock today.
I've found others that are similiar in the same location. They stand out as being different and made of the same pourous stone.

Grinding stone of some sort? The flat face is slightly convex.
They all feel polished smooth on the flat surface, almost like they were sliced in half.

I've read that NA's teeth were prematurely worn down and fell out due to eating so much stone.
However, many also typically lived to be very old.

Your item has the characteristics to a chopper with the flat side along with the convex opposite side. But usually the edge of the convex side is flaked to create a sharper edge. Other than that it is an interesting item.

That is a very well used mano, for use with a metate.
Thanks for the input! I had never heard those terms until visiting this site.
My dad has several he found as a kid and he had not heard the term either. He just knew it was an artifact.
